Are you Still using a couple of saw horses as a Mitre Saw Stand? Come on! Are you serious? Yeah I know we’ve all spent years struggling without them but with just a couple of hundred dollars invested you can kiss the saw horses goodbye and gain some real benefits. Stands by Hitachi, Dewalt, Craftsman and Bosch will all do the job beautifully.

Today Mitre Saw Stands will make life so much easier. They are highly portable and can be moved easily from job to job and from place to place while you’re on the same job. They give a consistent work environment with no messing around with heights and levels.

The difference it can make to your work speed is incredible. And we all know that time saved is money made.

There are Three main types. Rail, Table Top and Hybrids.

Rail Set up. Uses legs that fold up onto a main pair of rails. It Looks like a single saw horse. These are compact and easy to store and carry. The Saw is mounted on cross bars with bolts. These cross bars then clamp onto the rails. This means that the saw can easily be removed from the stand to be used elsewhere with having to take the stand with you. Most of these Rail stands come with slide out extension bars to support long lengths of timber. Out of all of the available ones the Hitachi with it’s cam locks seems to be the best. The Dewalt is great with it’s quick release locks.

Table Top. This type of stand pretty much needs you to dedicate your saw to the stand. Mounting isn’t quite as easy as with a lot of the rail set ups so once the saws on you’ll want to leave it there or unbolt it to move it off  the stand. The great thing about these type is that a lot of them come with wheels so the stand is really easy to move even with the saw attached.

Hybrid. This type of stand I feel combines the best of both worlds. It takes the ease of set up of the table top system and combines it with the flexibility that you get from a rail set up. In Particular the Bosch Saw Stand is great in that it lets you remove the saw to get it working elsewhere on the job without having to dismantle the stand.
